Customize a Candle: Every Option, Explained

Step one: choose the vessel

The vessel sets the burn time and the room it suits, so choose it before anything else.

• Signature glass jar — the default. Roughly 45 hours of burn, wide enough for a full melt pool, best surface for photo labels.
• Wood-lid tumbler — same wax, warmer look, doubles as a tabletop piece with the lid on.
• Recycled bottle — a real spirit or wine bottle cut and re-poured. Long burn, heavy presence, curved label area, so keep artwork simple.
• Ceramic — opaque, so nothing shows through; the label carries the whole design.

Step two: choose the scent

Every fragrance on our list has been burn-tested in these vessels at a fixed load, which is why we do not take bespoke blends. Choose by where the candle will live rather than by what smells best on a card: kitchens take citrus and herbs, bedrooms take vanilla, amber and linen, living rooms take wood and fig, bathrooms take eucalyptus and sea salt.

If the candle is a gift and you have no idea, pick something soft and non-committal. A personalized label carries the sentiment; the fragrance only needs to avoid offending.

Step three: label artwork

1. Photograph — upload an original file, at least 1200 pixels on the short edge.
2. Logo or monogram — vector or a transparent PNG.
3. Typeset only — choose one of the house layouts and give us the wording.
4. Handwriting — photograph the note on white paper and we will trace it.

Step four: wording

Keep it under about 120 characters. Check names, dates and spellings twice — we typeset exactly what you send, and the proof is your last chance to catch a wrong year.

Step five: packaging and proofing

Choose a plain protective mailer, a kraft keepsake box or a boxed candle with a handwritten card. If you are shipping straight to the recipient, add the card message at checkout — no invoice goes in the box.

Every customized order gets a digital proof before printing. Approve it and the candle is poured, labelled and shipped within two business days.

Common questions

Can I customize the wax or fragrance blend itself?

No — the wax is always 100% soy and fragrances come from our tested list. Bespoke blends cannot be burn-tested in time for a normal order.

Can I change something after I approve the proof?

Email us straight away. If we have not printed the label yet we will hold the order; once it is printed we have to charge for a reprint.

How much does customizing add to the price?

Label personalisation is included in the listed price. Gift boxing and handwritten cards are optional extras shown at checkout.
