Custom Candle Co. began with a personal need: to create a candle that was thoughtful, long-lasting, beautifully designed, and made with care.
How it started
Marcie Manfredonia was searching for an eco-conscious, non-toxic, long-lasting candle whose aroma would linger after the flame was extinguished. Again and again, the products she tried fell short of what they promised.
This was more than a preference. With allergies and asthma affecting her family, finding a better candle felt deeply personal. When the candle she needed proved difficult to find, Marcie decided to create it herself—and Custom Candle Co. began.

Made with purpose
The team worked long hours to refine its candles and scents while staying as environmentally conscious as possible. Recycled bottles became candle vessels—giving familiar glass a second life and a new purpose instead of sending it to a landfill.
Handmade design remains central to what makes each custom candle distinct. From the beginning, the candles were hand-poured with all-natural soy and high-quality natural products, pairing considered materials with creative, individual design.

The idea behind the name
Custom design gave the company room to spread its creative wings and offer something special to bring home—not another mass-produced candle. The natural, simple approach inspired the straightforward name: Custom Candle.

Meet the founder
Founder of Custom Candle Co. and owner of Nationwide Maintenance, described in her published biography as a woman-owned minority business.
Marcie's entrepreneurial life began long before Custom Candle Co. As a young mother, she found creative ways to support her family—from handmade products to sales—while caring for her children and later for her mother during a battle with breast cancer.
After profound personal loss and a period of financial hardship, she chose to build something of her own. She started an exterior-cleaning business that grew into Nationwide Maintenance, a larger maintenance and general contracting company.
Her success created opportunities to encourage other women facing obstacles as mothers and business owners. It also gave her a platform for cancer-awareness work and support for nonprofit causes.
Custom Candle Co. marked a return to Marcie's creative side. What began with recycled, cut-bottle soy candles developed into a wider candle and specialty-gift business, while keeping handmade design and personal expression at its center.
On December 29, 2020, Marcie was honored by the Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognized for her entrepreneurial work.
Beyond the business
Marcie's published biography describes her support for cancer awareness through Building A Cure, which helped raise money for American Cancer Society research. It also notes her support for other nonprofit organizations, including the SPCA—work shaped by her family's own experience with cancer.
