For over 100 years, the American Cancer Society (ACS) has worked relentlessly to save lives. They’re leading the way to transform cancer from deadly to treatable and from treatable to preventable through research, education, advocacy, and service. Thanks to the progress we are making together, the cancer death rate has declined 20% since 1990! Custom Candle Co. is proud to be part of this partnership!
Custom Candle Co. & Nationwide Maintenance are proud to have raised over $20,000 for the American Cancer Society in 2015. I am excited to announce that we will be joining with the well-established Westchester Gala for 2016, and that I am honored to be a significant part of the event committee with several others. Some of the distinguished committee members have been involved with ACS for over 30 years!
The Diamond Gala raises funds annually to benefit the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in midtown Manhattan, a place where cancer patients and their caregivers can find help and hope when home is far away. Each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Every Hope Lodge offers a nurturing, home-like environment with a variety of resources and information about cancer and how best to fight the disease.
The Diamond Gala will be very similar to our event last year, featuring cocktails, silent auction, and dancing. The night includes a special Gift of Hope auction to raise restricted funds for the Society’s network of 31 Hope Lodges, which provide a free place to stay for cancer patients receiving treatment away from home. The Diamond Gala dedication to the Hope Lodge Mission has resulted in the naming of a room at the Manhattan Hope Lodge in Midtown named for our event.
Join me at the Diamond Gala on Friday, September 16 at LIFE… The Place to Be in Ardsley, where community, business and philanthropic leaders will come together in support of the American Cancer Society’s important mission to save lives from cancer. And have fun too! Last year alone, this signature Westchester event raised over $200,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is a powerful event to raise awareness and funds to end breast cancer. As the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, the non-competitive three-to five-mile walks unite nearly 300 communities with a shared determination to finish the fight. Each walk is an inspirational event that celebrates breast cancer survivors, pays tribute to loved ones lost, and raises funds to help the Society save lives from breast cancer. Last year, more than one million Making Strides walkers helped to raise more than $60 million for the American Cancer Society.
Thanks to the generosity of folks like you that the American Cancer Society is able to continue funding lifesaving research and providing programs and services to cancer patients and their families. Custom Candle Co. couldn’t just stop at supporting the Gala and making sure to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk every year. We also wanted to design a candle line dedicated to this special cause. Now you have a chance to give, and display with pride, your support of breast cancer research! Each purchase of a Breast Cancer candle sends a $5 donation to the American Cancer Society.
Dollars raised help the Society save lives from breast cancer by investing in groundbreaking research to better understand, prevent, find, and treat the disease. It also provides free, comprehensive information and support to those touched by breast cancer when and where they need it; and helping people take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable. Join us at our Diamond Gala this September 16 pick up one of our Breast Cancer supporter candles or you can find an event in your community at makingstrideswalk.org and sign up today. Together, we can finish the fight against breast cancer.
